SUMMARY

Peñíscola Castle was declared as a National Artistic Historical Monument in 1931. In addition, the historical center of the old town of Peñíscola was declared in 1972, a Historic Site. The castle and its fortifications are also included in the historical site.

The visit to the Castle is part of the program of anyone who spends a few days in Peñíscola, and in many cases also for tourists who have visited it previously. It is one of the main attractions of the town and Valencia region, with a high number of visits each year. The filming inside of several episodes of the series Game of Thrones, has increased its tourist notoriety.

The Regional government wanted to boost the Castle from an innovative museology able to create an emotional experience to the visitor.

ACTIVITIES

The museographic project included the following activities:

Detailed museographic design and contents for various rooms.
Along with the museography, and to facilitate the self-guided visit to the visitors, Audioguías and App.
Course of Guides. To complete the improvement in the presentation of the Castle to the visitors, courses were implemented for the guides of the Castle based on the new museographic interpretation. The objective, besides the training, was to create a solid base of knowledge that remains in the time.
